Suggestions for converting this style into 3D...

Hey, I’m a comic artist that is starting to get into 3D. I want to start doing my characters in 3D, due to the flexibility that 3D offers as opposed to 2D drawings. I was wondering what the best way to model my characters facial features in 3D would be, since its different then a “normal” facial setup. I’ve tried a few different experiments on my own, trying both edge by edge and box modeling techniques, but none of them seem to work all that well. I was hoping maybe some of you would have some suggestions.

Anyways, this is the look I’m trying to achieve, any help would be appreciated.
