sun flowers

First test with a free model, exported to povray with povanim:

Povray export as is, no focal blur, no radiosity:

povray export with focal blur, radiosity and volumetric lights (very short effect) :

povray export with shadowless light :

povray export with bump effect, “crackle” :

povray export 845000 faces (is that smooth enough?) :

Jms,

Really nice still life. I like the modeling of sun flowers. The have a life like quality to them. I’d like to see you add the seeds to the center of each flower if possible.

Maybe round out the vase a bit more? I like your color choices. How adding a blue skylight to simulate a window off camera? It might add more contrast. Great job overall.

How long did it take to export? I’ve always meant to ask you if there is a way to tell how long it will take for a complex scene to export?

Thank you,

204500 triangles at the end (60000 in the
original blender file ),
114000 vertices,
60 materials (12 indexed by mesh)
exported in 59.82 seconds.

A tip: To know how long the complex exports take,
look at the 3/4 lines in the console.

I like your textures, and the different effects are neat… cool flower, maybe make it smoother though

Oups! “2.26-05” !
Very old version. Try a more recent (and incredibly faster,
the bargain of the year!) one:

You need a complete version of python to load the time module.
It may have problems with the linux one. In this case,
povanim does not evaluate the elapsed time because this module
is not loaded.

What do you mean by complete version of python module. I’m sorry fr so many questions but I’m not sure if I understand. Can you explain?

A complete version of python?

on win32 systems, when you open the blender archive
there is a dll file in which you can find some standard modules : sys,
math, etc. If you need other modules like strings, time, …, you
need to install the win32 version of python (a new python.dll with folders
for libs, dlls, packages etc).

Under linux, you always need to install the developpers packages
to use python in blender. No choise, the python is complete but it seems
that there was a problem when the time module was loaded and the script
was stopped. I added a test on this part of code so now, if the time module
is not correctly loaded, the time functions are just not used and the script
goes on.

Ok. I installed Python version 2.2 the very first time I used Povanim, so I’ve had it all along. I must be missing something. When I run Povanim, I always type in my path to the Lib folder and run the script. Is there something additional I need to do?

By the way you can just PM me, I don’t want to turn yor WIP thread into tech support!
