Sunken Temple of Time

Hi everyone!
I’m sharing with you a new personal piece, a fan art for my favourite location in the Legend of Zelda series.

My goal was to play with the new caustics features of Cycles: it’s amazing how they improve the overall quality of this kind of environments - I can’t wait to have it on an official Blender release!

As you see from the shots below there is quite a lot of overpainting involved.

I hope you will like the project!

Shadow pass: I use this as a first stage to work on the composition

Duuuuuude that’s so cool!

How did you make the central dais/circular platform? Been wanting to make something similar myself but never figured out how to make the surface look convincingly ruin-like.

Than you Ulan!
The circular platform was sculpted very loosely with some scrape brush used to worn out the edges and stencils for details. Stencils are a great way to create this kind of architectures!

Honestly the modeling is very basic here, I spent most of the time getting the correct lighting and vegetation.

Thank you!

This is so incredible, how did you achieve that painted look?

Wow this is nice. It bends my mind, like “is that a photo with a bunch of filters” or “is that made in photoshop”.
edit: I felt the Zelda immediately even without knowing the references exactly
