=Sunset version= Postcard from p00f +blend files (cc)

Hi everyone,

I took a little bit more time this morning and evaluated how to make every thing less “Homoginized” looking

the blue sky of the first version made everything look “bleached” to me, so I decided to try a nighttime or sunset backdrop and it payed off I think

The sunset is just a plane that i added a few edge loops to and vertex painted…

Then I duplicated the bacground, and scaled it down, and added abit more vertex coloring to make a sun.

The entire scene is still 100% raster texture free! and made 100% in Blender!

Here is the backdrop I made:

Feel free to use it any way you like in your own projects…
i release this under creative commons licence (cc)… use it any way you want…

I may do a flash tutorial later on about vertex painting, I have found a few really neat tricks that save lots of time

the palm tops still look a bit skimpy to me, the material is also undesireable … I might ponder on plant materials today as well…any suggestions would be nice

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

Hello everyone,

I had a bit of time today to do some modeling… i challenged myself to do it all without textures

This started out as just a material pack.then as I was renderering I decided to whip out a few models to stick the materials on…
a couple hours more, and I had this here :

Hope you all like it…
I included the blend file as well… you are welcome to use anything you want, any way you want

I am quite happy with the lava rock… the grass material is a “keeper” as well.

Most of the plants and flowers are vertex colored . the sand is vertex colored as well to make it dark where water hits sand

I wanted to make a morning glory vine, but ended up with a violet genetic hybrid. (not enough pettals on flower, and wrong shaped leaf on vine)

on layer 2 you will find a few more materials as well…

have a nice night everyone

I think the pine tree’s need to sag and improve the lighting? It’s looks abit too green…

But all in all it’s looks great, im gonna play with the blend now… mwa ha ha ha ha!

im really curious as to how you made all the plants.

were they all modeled by hand?

hi Cowman,

I agree the palm trees needs some work on the top materials, looks a bit flat to mee too

Hi DeathB4Life,

I modeled everything you see by hand, the materials are all done from scratch as well …
Download the .blend file and take a look  everything is still in its early cage form, the fianal picture looks smooth thanks to subsurf .

I may do another flash tutorial on the plant modeling for everyone today …

thanks for looking at my picture:)

nice work, I like it.
and thanks for share the .blend file.

Hi Manda,

Glad you like the picture, hope you enjoy the .blend file as well.

Have a nice day
