Survey (blind test): Blender vs After Effects

Hello, I am a student at the University of Gävle, Sweden. I am writing a paper about chroma keying and compositing and I would appreciate if you would like to take 10 minutes to answer eight questions in total regarding softwares for chroma keying and compositing.

The survey starts with seven questions regarding your relation to different softwares. At the end of the survey you will be asked to study two images, that has been composited with either Adobe After Effects (commercial) or Blender (free), to guess which one is which.

Thank you!

Just completed the survey, once the survey is complete are you going to release the results, I’d be quite interesting in knowing which image is from which application

Thanks! Yes, I intend to post the results and the right answer here on June 1st.

The survey is now closed. Thanks to all of you who participated!

Where are the results???

Thanks! Yes, I intend to post the results and the right answer here on June 1st.

you blind boy

You kept the survey open for only 3 days???

Wow. That was a really short survey. I was going to take it. I wanted to see those pictures.

me too. Can you post the two pictures so the ones that couldn’t do the survey can take a shot at it?

Oh well. Being a heavy After Effects user, I really wanted to take this also.

Oh I guess, after all this was a BLIND test…

So, which was which? Also, can you post the pictures again?

I’m curious to find out the results as well. Will we be able to see the poll?

Spoiler alert, the Blender version was image B.

The person who prepared the comparison over cooked the Blender version and did no color correction on the After Effects version…

This was fairly plain to see.

Umm… It’s already the second of june…

Yeah, but he didn’t mention which YEAR.

Sorry for being late. I have been awfully busy finishing my work so I had to put the posting of results on hold for a little while. Anyways, I have compiled the answers in diagrams (link below) for those who are interested. The correct answer in the blind test (or the image that was produced with Blender) is… (drum roll)… image X!

Oh, and I regret not being able to keep the survey open any longer. Time was of the essence. Despite the short time, I got some interesting results.

EDIT: For those who are interested in seeing the images after the fact, here they are:

Thanks again!

wow, those tests are silly…some of your graphs have overlapping colors, its confusing and useless…worst graphs EVER :stuck_out_tongue:

but the information itself is pretty interesting, although, you could have made better examples, that way people could really see what each could do if used correctly…
