Hi!!!
I am posting this, just in case there are some people that encounter the same problem with Blender-publisher and Linux…
After setting up my new SuSE-8.0 on my box, I decided to give it a try with Blender publisher 2.25!!!
The result was a bit frustrating, because Blender seemed to hang every time I was trying to resize the windows . Apart from that everything else seems to be working allright.
After giving it some thought, I reached the conclusion, that it was due to the fact that my graphic’s card (ATI RAGE FURY vivo…) 3D Acceleration, wasn’t enabled…
Well, I’ve solved the problem by using a nice utility called 3Ddiag!!! (I think it’s a part of xfree86…)
You have to issue:
3Ddiag
from the console. It will check wether you have 3D acceleration enabled or not. If not the program’s output will tell you which packages you’re missing and what to do to enable 3D on your box…
For a list of possible options, better try :
3Ddiag -h
first…
That’s it!!! Now my box really rocks with Blender!!!
I hope this will help others…
bye…
