Suspending softbody physics in the BGE???

Can you suspend softbody physics in the BGE???

I want the object to start as basically a static object when the BGE starts, but then turn into a softbody object when it gets hit by something, and then turn back into a static like object…

The whole point would be to cut down on physics calculation. Any ideas?

You could swap out a static version of the object with a softbody version. This would be done by adding and removing objects.
