swamp flesh eating plant monstet

here’s my sucky work in progress for a flesh eating plant.

very much welcome and asked.

The textures are nice but its a little hard to tell whats going on in the scene. If you hadn’t told me what it was, I wouldn’t have known.

It´s a very messy picture. Maybe you could show a render from a little clearer view?

I like your style. maybe you should do a little bit more with the lighhtning and color.

well here is another WIP, i’ve adjusted the camera so the whole plant is seen, and also eddited the plant a bit.

fumbled a bit with the lighting, although i’m still not fully happy with it, atleast it’s a start.

added some green swamp gasses/fog they look OK but they could be far better. but testing the settings is very time consuming realy :confused:
(any pointers on this would be GREATLY appriciated.)

also added some cheese bones to add to the “horror” factor. (made in about 5 seconds with metaballs :stuck_out_tongue: very messy)

as always all C&C appriciated.

(and 5 points for the person who can spot what’s wrong with the world in this picture)

it looks a lot better.
Only there’s something strange going on on the bottom near the surface. it seems like the plant is floating somehow…

there is no actual surface, there is only the fog effect :slight_smile:
i’m unsure if i’m going to make a ground, maybe i should just make one and try how it looks.

I would do that, oor make the edges of the plantnear the bottom more fudgy, by aplying another texture with alpha

what’s wrong with the bones?
just how they are modled or the texture.
becouse i actualy din’t do a texture, i made the shape and renderd to see how it looked and i found that the look was realy bone like.

you missed a smooth neatr the top of the big image

very cool idea, how about some gnarly roots?

well added some gnarly roots.
this also kinda solved the problem i think of the plant apearing to just stop where the ground began.
speaking of ground, i added some. :slight_smile: (just a basic plane with wave effect that is slightish brown, fog covers it totaly and the ground is hardly seen but it just addes that little diffrence.)

adjusted lighting somewhat, i screwed over reality and just added some spots and lights to illuminate the scene and some of the parts of the plant. (the snappers for instance)

also made the snappers very reflective and yellow. dunno why but it made them look cooler.

added some props. (yes the blade of the knife needs work)

also finaly figured out how to make some good fog. (well atleast i think this is good fog)

and that’s about it.

while looking at it i see that i should realy work on the texture of the critter it’s eating, looks kinda plastic. oh well.

apart from that and the black background this will be the finished for as far as i’m concerned. i still have a week to finish it, but well. when somethings done it’s done, and i can’t realy see anything to improve on this, except by starting from scratch. (which i wasn’t planning on doing :slight_smile: )
