Well… I’d say it needs some work, though it does show promise. There’s some things that I notice…
It’s way bright… which is unusual, usually people make things too dark, so good… but maybe a bit much.
Why do the bricks stop? And what is that background colour? There’s no need for that… I don’t think it ads anything…
Why is the knife so neatly aligned to the bricks and positioned in the middle of the brick? That makes the image incredibly “undynamic” (I know that’s not a word).
Another thing… the bricks look like wall bricks, so… they would normally be vertical… and kind of hard to lay a knife on a vertical wall.
The overlay is quite harsh, so it doesn’t really “play” with the image much… the two don’t quite look like they “belong together”.
Not trying to be harsh, it shows promise, just trying to be constructive… I hope you don’t mind
I understand exactly what you mean, thanks for the criticism.
This mainly was just a practice with textures. I recently got a new camera, and I took pictures of bricks, knives, and grass, as my own personal texture and reference collection.
I used my picture of a knife as a reference for this knife, and it was alot easier to model!
The bricks in this render is just a simple square plane with the texture of bricks I took. I know I could have went and did more work with this, but as I said, it’s only a simple practice.
