Symmetry with cars

How can i do symmetry when i am modeling a car? And there are some steps that i have to do when modeling a car?


I’m no good with modelling cars, but to do symmetry use the mirror modifier. Select your car object (or what will become your car object) and in F9 select Mirror from the Add Modifier drop down. The default is symmetry about the x-axis but this can be changed.

Don’t forget that if you have already started a mesh both sides will be mirrored, so you might end up with doubles. Just delete all the vertices on one side to remove them (or finish your model, apply the mirror modifier and then remove doubles).

The Do Clipping button is useful to prevent you moving vertices through the mirrored plane (and vertices that are on the plane cannot be moved off it).
