Sync Mat. Sync color between Solid mode and Render mode

Hi Blender Artists,

This is my first addon (Thanks, GPT!).
It’s as simple as it gets and not entirely unique, but I hope many of you will find it really handy.

Unlike some other addons, it doesn’t clutter standard menus or hotkeys and is located in a convenient place for quick access.

Check out a short video review here:

Overview:

Sync Mat is a lightweight addon for Blender that simplifies syncing Base Color and Alpha between Shading and Viewport Display.

Features:

  • Base Color Sync: Works for active materials, selected objects, or all objects in the scene.
  • Alpha Sync: Handles transparency syncing the same way.
  • Quick Access:
    • Right-click on Base Color or Alpha.
    • Tooltip shows these shortcuts:
      • Click – Active material.
      • Shift + Click – Selected objects.
      • Ctrl + Click – Entire scene.

If you’re interested, you can download the addon on my Patreon for free (limited time).
In the future, I might offer it for a small price to support the development of new addons.

That’s interesting… this even works in belnder 3.6. I thought “seeing” something like this some time before but i do not remember correctly.

The user @BVP seems to had something similar over ten years ago:

Also there seems to be a more complex “variant” (haven’t tested yet.):

( There seems to be a lot of seems here. )

Hi, thanks for the feedback!

Yes, I’m aware that similar solutions have existed, and I mentioned at the start of the post that I don’t claim to be entirely original.

I know of a few add-ons that include similar functionality, though I haven’t come across the one by @BVP, which seems to be much more functional than mine. I do agree that the logic is quite similar, probably because it’s simply the most optimal approach.

Blender is such a vast and rapidly evolving ecosystem that it’s hard to keep track of all the add-ons, especially those created many years ago. My goal with this add-on was mainly practical — to create a tool that fits my current tasks and workflow.

I’m glad to hear that it’s useful even in older versions of Blender, such as 3.6.
