Syntheyes export problem - No background video

Hello,
I’d like to bring up a problem I’m having. I did some tracking in Syntheyes and then exported it to Python for Blender. I then switched computers, opened the script, and retrieved the camera tracking (from a drone), which seems to be flying above the floor. I reloaded the video (because the path had been lost between the two computers).
The problem I’m facing is that my video doesn’t display when it’s in the “back” layer—it only appears when it’s in the “front” layer (0.5 or 1 opacity same problem). Unfortunately, when it’s in the front, I lose my 3D model, which is probably in the back. If I move the video to the back, the 3D model appears, but my video disappears.
When I do tracking in Blender, I don’t have this kind of problem, BUT the quality isn’t as good as Syntheyes.
How can I make my video and CGI reappear?

Many thanks

Hello !!

Sorry for the late reply I guess you’ve figured this out, but for the sake of complexion I’ll give some hints !

What you see is actually your footage displayed in the camera as preview. Back probably don’t work because it’s behind the ground plane.

In any case it’s just for reference and at render it won’t show up. You need to set the opacity low while working so you can tell if the tracking is working properly with your 3D mesh.

Once this is done, probably you’ll want to have the ground plane set as a shadow catcher, and add the rendered object on top of the actual video in compositing.

Obviously there is a bit more to it but it’s hard to explain everyting in a forum post, feel free to ask questions, or look for tracking tutorials in blender to see how they handle all that !

Have fun !
