Tag Requests

(Dimitar) #1

Sorry if i missed it anywhere, but I am wondering, what is the tag policy? It could be quite useful to have the ability to tag elements for example with tags such as #exteriorArchitecture, #architecture, #conceptArt, etc that may further aide searching for something quite precise.

@dimitarsp Think you have to unlock the ability to create custom tags or ask an admin for the time being. Haven’t tried on a new thread though… Enjoyed your concepting tutorials btw. :+1:

True enough @bartv, thanks for the update.

(Bart Veldhuizen) #3

You need a higher trust level to CREATE tags, but once they exist you can use them. If you give me a list I’ll prepare them.

(<== Lost? Click Me) #4

Hi @bartv might be worth setting up a thread for this should other users want to request some new ones now or down the line.

If you’re open to that / listening I’d ask to add #pixel #painterly #linework or just #npr if too specific. Could help sort and format said if needed also.

(Bart Veldhuizen) #5

Done. I’ll wait a bit for some more requests, then process it.

(Dimitar) #6

Just off top of my head:

#architecture, #exteriorArchitecture, #conceptual, #realism, #artistic, #npr (as @LoboTommy mentioned) , #vehicles, #interiorArchitecture, #furniture, #characters, #blender-io (or something along those lines for compatibility with other software packages/formats), #modeling, #texturing, #lighting, #rigging, #vr, #360-renders

Some more candidates:

#parametric
#physics
#procedural
#particle
#pbr
#projection
#sim
#stereo
#sbs
#terrain
#vdm

Testing tag search it seems that capitalisation is ignored.

Thanks Bart. What’s #those about? Other language?
Tests: #those #artistic #characters #ar #modeling #real-time #anatomy.
Some tags don’t seem to work atm? They’re not clickable and don’t show up in autocomplete, #those and #characters for example. Don’t think #physics and #vdm were implemented. Just a heads up, no rush. Thanks again.

(Bart Veldhuizen) #11

‘those’ was a mistake, #characters, #physics and #vdm should work now.

(Felix Kütt) #12

#wiki for wiki threads so they could be more easily identified.

(Bart Veldhuizen) #13

Added #wiki

(ChameleonScales) #14

I think a very useful one would be #assets for all those threads that provide downloadable assets.

(ChameleonScales) #15

Oh, and same for #add-ons, thought I’m not sure what’s best between plural or singular.

(ChameleonScales) #16

and #events

(ChameleonScales) #17

@dimitarsp if I were you I would rename this thread “Tag requests”, as it’s pretty much what it has become.

@bartv why don’t tags get listed here https://blenderartists.org/tags ?

(Bart Veldhuizen) #18

They’re only listed when they have been used at least once, otherwise clicking them would lead nowhere.

(<== Lost? Click Me) #19

Hi Bart. Not sure why but autocomplete doesn’t display tags (used or not) any more which makes determining / recalling what’s available harder. Just see categories and sub forums pop up as suggestions matching the string.

Could that be reverted, or could tags be given a home like the smilies or the cog buttons?

And if you could add these at some point:
#3dprinting
#print
#scripts
#glsl
#fragment
#osl

Seconding:
#assets
#add-ons
#events

As per other thread convos, render engine tags might be good too.

I’d go plural, searching add-on and add-ons would both succeed.

Thanks

PS: https://blenderartists.org/tags
Fake user / x 0 display an option? In reply box would be best though.

Edit: Testing https://blenderartists.org/tags/wiki and https://blenderartists.org/search?expanded=true&q=tags%3Awiki return 0 results. Likewise for other used tags. @bartv @Fweeb?

Are you sure? Remember you have to start typing to see them:
