tattered cloth texture

I’m making a cloth dragon, and I know how to make a basic cloth texture, but I’m kind of a noob at texturing. It needs to have various dirtiness and tares, holes, and stitches and the likes, which i have no idea how to do this. Also, at various places, do to the various angles, the texture looks stretched and skewed. I know there’s a way to fix this, and it would be nice if someone could point me to a good tutorial on this.

Generally dirtiness and such details are done in Photoshop.

Image distortion has to do with improper UV unwrapping. How to properly UV unwrap depends on your object modeling.
