Yeah…most of us use blender for something else other than making balloon animals. Doesn’t this go in the “Quit Trashing Blender” section?
baa how rude. If you would read into it you would see that
A: It has a live unwrapping engine embedded. And that is something blender really really lacks is a good unwrap engine
B: blender is for fun
C: fun is good
D: blender is not professional
E: Blender already has some of teddy3d inside.
B: Blender is not just for fun. It has practical uses in the marketplace. Otherwise it wouldn’t exist.
C: No qualms about that
D: Why isn’t Blender professional?
E: Yeah…I guess we all have a little teddy3d inside us…

well yes Blender “Can” be (and is) used for pro work. But it still pails compared to Maya blah blah blah I am not talking about the differences here…
Only that most users just download blender for the fun free stuff.
I wanted to make a blender interface that only had four buttons and a make pretty button. But I can not program…
Ok , What I mean to say is that Blender needs an Unwrap engine. That is all. What we have now is a mess of unfinshed unwarp parts.
But Teddy3d does what I love. Just paint where you want to. No need to unwrap before hand, as it just does it automaticly. Then you can take that to photoshop and go from there.
In short it is quick and stupid proof.
Note : Teddy3d is a modeling app to so no you can not say that the bear is already unwrapped before hand by the developer…
Now do you understand my plea
You just want UVWrapping to be easier. Thats completely different than saying Blender isn’t professional. And I think most will agree with me that Blender’s UV system works great with a little patience. The results speak for themselves.
:< Blender isn’t proffesional ??? :< , Oooh okee, yeah right. Why did a company use blender for a 3D animation in a movie??, I saw an article on the web, about a company that used Blender for a 3D animation in a movie 1,5 year ago.
And I believe that Discreet, and Maya on one day will be defeated by an opensource 3D app called “Blender 3D”. And Blender will become the first one of the generation free apps that defeated the Prof apps. I belive Blender Rulezzz, I have seen the Blender light from heaven. There’s no another 3D app that really rulless like Blender does.
BTW, Blender Rullezzz.
Greetz, jd-multi, blender addicted.
Blender’s not professional? Blender’s already got some of a dumb cheap ugly ms-paint quality app in it?
Heh. %|
If you’ll note, in the animation subforum, there is a post regarding modelling competitions. Blender went head to head with the big boys, and kicked their butts.
Thanks for backing me up guys. I don’t think Teddy Ruxpin has anything on Blender…in fact it’d be neat to put a teddybear IN a blender.
till next month with the plea…
Teddy is a toy and an experiment. The author himself does not consider it something for major use. It was an experiment in new modelling methods, nothing more. The method of mapping is good for somethings, but for most work you can not get good enough textures painting directly onto the object like that.
yes but Zbrush and texture weapons are kicking blenders rear end in 3d painting and mapping.
I am just saying is all.
I love blender, but I just can’t stand sitting five hours fooling with it’s uv editor
If you can’t stand the heat…
…get out of the kitchen.
is that the best ya got ? ! ?
prove to me blender is king of uv unwrap and texture. Then I will be happy…
Lets have a face off. Blender vs zbrush demo. Lets paint a cube or whatnot…
Please explain to me why it is that you’re on a Blender based forum if you don’t like it and don’t wish to use it? If you’ve got a better alternative…feel free. Enjoy. But don’t waste everyone’s time pointing out that something isn’t the way you want it to be if you don’t intended to either:
a) Make a suggestion to the developers (and believe me I’m sure they’ve had plenty of complaints about it already)
or
b) Code the feature yourself
We’re all willing to hear your opinions, but why are you challenging me to a face off with a different program? What’s the point? This is a Blender forum…
Please don’t ask him for more feature suggestion, he’s already at 10 a day, if my calculations are right.
Joke aside, what we (meaning the developpers) really need is complete feature proposition. By that I mean how it will work in Blender, how it will be integrated in the interface, what does the feature do, some examples/screenshots of the feature in another program, working algorithm or math (if you’re lucky to find any).
Just saying that one feature would be nice is fun, but having a complete proposition to back it up lessens the load.

I LOVE blender D@gg nab it !
I just want to see it get even better.
So that is why I am always asking for the new features. Belive me if I could code I would. And it would be beauty. But I can not. So I just dabel in blender learning the in’s and outs of it. I guess it just drives my brain and helps me think. Sort of like real clay but less messy and you can make it talk and melt, and … do stuff
But just playing and making something really fast and sudo compleate is a bit of more work than it should be.
There are alway purisits in every form of software. Or movie or whatnot
Theeth , my pdf was not helpful ?
I love blender, but I just can’t stand sitting five hours fooling with it’s uv editor
That’s why we learn it better…
I find that many people disregard blender as a nothing tool, something that can’t be used in a professional manner. I usually redirect people to @ndy’s or blengine’s pages.
Check out ADL7’s awesome technique: here
