Must admit I don’t know what has caused the dark patches on the flower. They’re not there when looking at the viewport render but once the image is rendered out they appear. I guess it’s got something to do with the way the cubes are intersecting. I think it looks pretty cool anyway.
I think it’s really cool how you overlapped the cubes to give the flower its petals while also conserving on the cube count. Good job!
That is z fighting, it happens when 2 faces overlap in the same position (on the same view plane), Blender can not determine which face should be in front and produces weird shadows and shading, the effect also depends on camera angle and clipping values so sometimes it is different in render than viewport.
It has worked well here but normally would present a problem, the way to avoid it would be to change the position slightly of one of the faces so they are not sharing the same view plane, or to merge the faces into one ngon.
