These are a few of my latest efforts with Terblend and Terragen. Click the thumbnail to see a larger vision.

C&C welcome,

Sonix.

I like those, especially the first (just a quick question - is there anything specifically not Terragen in the second pic? it looks like it’s just TG). Those envmapped domes give me that realistic-yet-kind-of-strange feeling like some of the scenes from Riven. The only crit really is that it seems that some of the shadows aren’t right (look at the tether in the ground about the center of the pic - the shadow doesn’t look quite dark enough).

those are beautiful.

I really enjoy both but just one crit, and it goes for both images, that the clouds looks quite ‘imaged’ in them. Whereas everything else looks more or less real, the clouds look mapped-and streched.

Not much of a complaint, but one aspect out of place with the style of the rest of the pic is just a tad unduanting. Oh well, I love 'em anyhow!

Sorry to be fussy.

ray_theway:- The second is just Terragen. :expressionless: I shall do a Terblend version at some point though.

AROtotheN:- The clouds are rendered as 2D to save some rendering time. This is why they look like a slightly stretched map and a bit naff. I’ll render one with 3D clouds for use with Blender.

Also to get the different layers of mist in the second image, I had to drop the sky height, which probably affected the stretching more than anything.

The shadows are a bit weak in the first, I think I had the Soft level of the spot-light set too high.

Thanks for the comments,

Sonix.

Hey sonix,

Both are very nice renders, but I love the first image what a neat concept. The clouds will look better set to 3D, and Definately darken the shadows.

Very nice work.

For the domes, you could maybe “pile up” the dirt/sand a bit where the concrete anchor blocks enter the ground, or put slight dips in the ground. This would make them seem more “anchored” in the ground, rather than just laying on top.

I like it though. (What is the story? What’s inside? And what would a view out from the inside of one of those look like?

I recently fooled with ter2blend. waaayyy cool. one thing though,…if youre animating, be sure to soften up the shadows.
