Terrain painting

Hello all! I am trying to make a little demo for Geography class.
Topic:
The topic is about how mountains effect rain…the higher you go, the colder it gets, clouds form, rain falls…:eyebrowlift2:

Question:
How can I make the terrain’s material look pretty much ok? I don’t need too many details. I need a snow cap for the mountain top, and some mud-spots. This isn’t hard…But my main problem is geting it to blend.
try 1.) Let’s take 2 basic colors for now. I’ve selected the mountain top and assigned it a white color. The rest is green. But how do I get it to blend? I’ve tried adding the second (snow) a green belnd texture in it…didn’t quite come out as I expected.
try 2.) I’ve also tried Vertex paint! I managed to get what I wanted! But when I go back to object mode it dissapears…and it doesen’t render . Just goes to show I haven’t a clue about what “Vertex paint” is for! :stuck_out_tongue: Texture paint doesen’t seem to work under my hand…

Please help!

Ps.: Thanks ahead!

Well I understand what you need but I don’t understand all that you did. No matter, try to do something like that in Terragen, I think it could help.

What is Terragen?

To get vertex colours to transfer to render, turn on ‘vcol paint’ in the Materials tab of the Materials button set.

I know why the vertex paint isn’t displaying - Go into the materials panels, select “add new” if the object doesn’t have one already, and look in the “Material” panel. There’s a block of orange buttons at the top, select “VCol Paint” to make it use the vertex colours in the render. To show them in the 3D view, switch to textured mode (ALT-Z).
Hope this helps:)

EDIT: Once again I am beaten to it by someone giving a quicker explanation:o

OW YES! Now it’s working! THANKS FOLKS! YOU GUYS OWN!
