texture nodes?

I’ve looked up some tutorials on this and I can’t get it to work. I follow the instruction and go to shading, click materails, click add new, click textures , but then after adding a texture it asks me to enable nodes on the textures window, but I don’t have that option available to me. What do I do? I’m very new to blender, but I’ve been messing around with it for a little over a month now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you checked “use nodes” in the texture node editor ?

Where do I find that?

node editor --> click texture symbol --> use nodes in header

That’s the problem, I don’t have the texture node symbol, I only have the composite nodes and material nodes.

See the three buttons in the middle? you want to press the one that looks like a leopard skin.

Are there any good, materials websites for blender? like metals/glass/brick/skin?

I know, but I only have the first two, there is no leopard skin for me, theres just empty space there.

are you using linux or mac? maybe it hasn’t quite been coded in yet?
@maxvam, I recall there being one, maybe do a search at blendernation, or in news and chat subforum.
(edit)@maxvam, try this: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=90187

No it’s a PC. I can’t figure out why only the material node and composite nodes are showing, is there any sort of pre-requisite that I would have to do before I could use texture nodes? Something like do I have to do something specific with a material or texture before I can use them?

have you added a texture or textures in texture buttons? maybe that will do something, but I am pretty sure the button should be there regardless.

Thanks for trying to help. What would be he best thing to do now; re-download blender?

Yeah, that would be the next thing I would try. The only other thing I can think of, is, maybe it’s a graphics card issue, or a missing .dll, or something. Seems like a really weird problem though. I hope you can figure it out.
