Texture Paint large terrain

I am having a problem when trying to texture paint a large area, for instance the texture is way to big to fit down to a smaller scale and using the scale with the texture paint has done nothing. I have been messing with this for a very long time and most topics I read on something similar confuse me.

Is there a way to make the texture smaller when painting on a mesh?

When creating a texture you can specify dimensions in pixels, just read and alter the fields presented.

Else you can save it out and scale it in an image editor then reimport it if you have progress to keep.

Yeah, see im stuck with the paint texture tool though and its not fitting on the mesh and if it does its just a giant Pixelated mess.

Here’s but one still applicable example to refer to. It mixes tiling textures with a painted mask.

I ran into a issue.Capture It has turned into cubes and there is no color in material or rendered view.
