( Options section), when in Texture painting mode, we can select the desired faces and the painting action it’ll be applied only to them…but i can’t reproduce this?!
The color spreads all over the mesh, even with faces hidden.
The same happens to you?
I tried to doe what is described here. It seems it awoids drawing on the hidden face. But drawing on edges seems not to be correct. If you draw a line from one face to another and the UV maps are not connected to each other on these edge, part of the line is drawn on the texture outside of the UV maps.
This effect is also present on invisible faces as it is drawn on the texture directly.
Example:
Standard cube with smart projection UV map. Draw one white line over an edge with not connected UV edges:
yeah the same thing happened to me… the 3d painting paints stuff on other faces… it needs some work! Also being able to SEE your brush size in 3d… i.e. a nice circle that changes it’s radius as you change the brush size… would’ve been a good idea… dunno why they left that out? I hoping is was because of time constraints…?
Ah man this looked sooo sweet. With pressure for tablet support and being able to jump back and forth from UV map painting to painting right on the model. I didn’t realize it had pressure support, so I was never going to bother with it. Now I wish it was more accurate that way you could paint directrly on the model to remove seams. Oh it would have been great. But since it has problems when painting at the interfaces between faces its kills that idea.
Yes, Thorgal
the Texture painting works well with Unwrap (ed) meshes
But, my problem is different…
Let’s say that I have a subdivided plane
I paint the whole mesh red
Then I select a face that I want to paint blue, precisely
After the manual, it’s possible…if I understand well…but it not works
The painting don’t stop at selected face edges
yes it screws up even with unwrapped faces by painting on other faces randomly… the unwrapping is not the problem… it’s just buggy period… in monster picture is should paint over the seams on all faces… i.e. you’re painting the corner of a unrwapped cube… you should be able to just dab some paint on a corner… which would put paint across 3 faces that are unwrapped… doesn’t look like it can paint over seams very well… maybe we should tell the blender guys…
