texture paiting rendering ?

i can paint some color on mesh in 3D viewport or the UV editor but when i render it does not show in render output ?

so how can you see this paitning in render ?

Apply your painted texture to a material applied to your objects colour channel.

if not packed then you need to save the image from UV editor!

but if it is packed do you still need to save it or not to re apply it as a texture image on a channel on one material ?

and to see it in rendered ouput do you need to reload this saved image as a texture image channel in F6 in 2.49 on a material ?

and i guess the same for 2.54
