Texture problem

i have a curved plane and want to apply a texture that creates the illusion of steps.The problem is that the texture changes on the curved section.How do i solve this problem so that the texture continues around the whole plane.Thanks.

I think your saying you want a texture to follow the contour of a shape rather than just mapping to it as if it was a plane without having to edit the texture image. The only way I can think is to UV map it, that way you can move the uv map around till you get the texture distoring the way you want it to. - So either distort the original texure to fit or distort the uv map over the texture
