Texture Test

My 3DTotal texture CD arrived today so i thought i would give it a quick test run. Here is what i have, just threw a couple of textures together and added a shadow map. BTW if you are serious about blender and want good textures then i really recommend that you splash out a little bit for one of the CD’s.

sweet, wher did u get the cd from? id love one

You can find 80% of the textures you need through Google Image
And if you cant find the texture you want, what are digital cameras for?
Of course if you don’t want to go through the hassle of making seamless textures then a texture cd is the 3rd option.

If i could make seemless textures then that would be great, but the 3DTotal texture cds comes with great bump maps as well and reference images and shadow maps. I just wanted to try out a texture cd. Im very glad i did now. Do you of a good way to make seemless textures?

Mhm. Cool Texture.

I don’t want to be picky. But doesn’t this picture fit better into the WIP-Section. I mean test-renders are supposed to be done for a project which then is finished.

Just my 2 cents. Don’t want to upset anybody. Nevertheless a cool texture L13.

gimp has a make seamless feature

i get all my textures from the internet, and if i can’t find one i can always ask my friend if i can burrow his digital cam…i don’t think there’s a point in wasting money on texture cd’s they’re just rip offs.

Ready-made textures are often good for tests and stuff, just like ready made models, but when you are serious, use your own - textures play an important role in how your objects look, so taking something generic from a texture CD will generally give you a very generic image. Anyway, making textures is half the work and also half the fun!

Monkeyboi: i completely agree with you, all the projects i ever did, except for the door, all of them i made myself.

and it is fun…drawing is always fun http://www.img7.photobucket.com/albums/v17/mystery/wink_smiley.gif

i agree, but, i think its worth having some textures for things like a wooden floor, a brick wall etc. BUT dont use a texture unless you think its the right one for ur image, even if it is a generic texture, SOMETIMES, it has to be

Check out the tutorial I just left in general on making tilable textures.

It’s easy. Also there is a program in other software that is slow, but does a good job.

ho yea? where is it?

In 2.x it’s Filters>Map>Make Seamless. But I don’t think you’ll be happy with result. I much more reccomend using Offset (Layer>Transform>Offset in 2.x) with wrap enabled and fixing up manually. Much better results
