Bye, Olaf.

Hey excellent tutorials…

Thanks for sharing this with us olaf!!!

Spyros.

Ok, here goes with my first Elysiun post ever…

This is probably well known among the regular users here, but just in case it isn’t I thought I’d point out there’s a really good series of texture-making essays that I’ve been reading recently over at CGTalk…

Part 1
Part 2 and 3
Part 4
Part 5

I’ve just really gotten into Blender after having it lurking on my hard drive for a while. Possibly using it for doing some amateur-ish cgi stuff for a digital video idea … That learning curve is hellish steep

Anyway, the texture stuff I’ve mentioned above has been pretty invaluable in trying to understand all the different ways that textures work (diffuse/specular etc)…

Cool. Thanks for the tutorials. Those’ll be a big help if I ever get around to making my own textures.

Thank you for the links, most excellent. [!]

Tez,

Welcome to Elysiun. Great first post. That is a nice resource. Here is the link to Leigh’s web site with the tutorials available as PDF’s:

Photorealistic Texturing for Dummies.

(Old Thread)

Does anybody else think that that tutorial could have been written a bit more concisely? Like: “load an image and then apply these textures on to it using these settings”… Man, that tutorial isn’t useful to anybody (it’s not your fault though): newbies get way too confused, and pros already know the tricks…

Bye, Olaf.

Blah, well this is a bit more useful, but the images on the main page leads you to believe that you’ll get that looking textures…

To me, these tutorials were quite crappy… on other, you’re dependant on other images, and the other is basically just “…and then paint this and this and this and this and voila, you got yourself a texture…”
