Holy shit, is this the reason why Blender all of a sudden botched one of my textures???
Luckily I use BackBlaze, so left is a picture of the texture from a backup I had yesterday, and right is what I opened Blender to today.
Now, I’m guessing this is what happened:
- File was 100% Eevee from the beginning.
- Texture was created and painted inside of Blender, always packed.
- Yesterday evening I switched to Cycles for a few renders.
- I saved some changes and quit Blender with Cycles enabled.
The result from the above is that this morning when I opened the file that packed texture became extremely dark and my renders with it! So, now I’m not allowing it to be packed anymore and I have an external backup… but oh dear, the “technical correctness” that lead to this UX disaster!
