Textures not rendering & materials not changing

I’m having a bit of difficulty figuring out what is wrong my settings on this model. Here is a list of what I have tried so far:

Under the Textures tab -> Mapping I have Uv selected and it is mapped to UVmap. Influence is set to color and 1.000.
The Texture is enabled
Normals are facing outside
I have cleared all images linked to the UV’s.
I have imported the model into a new scene - just if I had set something to a default. Still nothing changed.

What is interesting is that when I remove the texture and change the material color it still renders everything as white! I removed the material, created a new one with a blue color and still the model renders nothing.

I added a cube, wrapped my model’s original texture on to it and wallah, it renders.

Rummaged through the render setup and any window I could find that might have something, anything… but I’m feeling pretty lost here.

So I guess some setting on the object is messing with the render. But what? I have attached a .blend file with part of the model for anyone to play with.

In your attached blend
Disable the ‘Face Textures’ option
Assign the red coloured material to your object faces if you want to give it that colour. Currently that object has been assigned the material in the 5th material slot.

Other than that there are no textures so not sure where the blend fits in with your question.

Never-mind the texture… that assigned material was it!!! Thanks a million!.

I didn’t even know it had a string of materials attached to it. And also, that ‘Face textures’ was something that I had activated in desperation. Oh well.
