Textures tab

Hi all,

I have a noob’s question. It has to do with materials, textures and nodes, which I don’t fully understand yet.
I’ve done tutorials before about UV mapping and I found it to be quite straight forward. Now I’m working in a different project and I cannot get it to work. There is something different, some button I activated, or some propierties… I really don’t know.
So here’s the thing. When you start a new project, materials can be created for an object and the Preview, Textures and the like can be seen in the righ panel. But in my project, when I create a new material in a new object, I only see the surface propierties, and there is no Textures tab anymore. It is only there when I go into edit mode, and only TexDraw is available. I don’t know if I’m making myself clear here. Should I take some screenshots?

Anyway, everything looks easy when following a tutorial from scratch, but I can’t start it all again and I know it must be some silly button somewhere. Can anybody give me a hand?

Thank you

Look at the top of the blender window. Sounds like you have set blender to use the Cycles Render rather than the older Blender Render options.

Spot on! All the tutorials I’ve been doing are for the old Blender Render, so that’s why I couldn’t find the buttons I needed.
I guess we all start by making stupid mistakes like this one. Thank you for your help.
