Texturing and Lighting Suggections for Full Moon effect?

I’m having trouble getting the right look for a convincing full moon. Any suggestions or sources?

you could turn up the emit value slightly, or try turning up the translucency slider in materials and put a low powered lamp inside the sphere. also you might try giving it a bit of a halo, which could be done with a single vertex or a circle with a halo material placed behind the moon.

Make sure you set the lamp to “sun”

are you using a map ona sphere to show the surfaces of the moon or just a white circle or sphere?


The moon looks more like a disc than a sphere as it has very low spec (but high albedo). Maybe you could try an actual plane with photo mapped on it?
