Texturing distortions

Hi,

My pool table and uvs look like this from the top view:

The rendering result of the center of pool table:

I want to get rid of this vertical distortion at the center.
What should I do to make this right ?
Shoud I use polygons of roughly the same size ?

Probably your uv unwrap has stretched polygons.
Post your blend file here http://www.pasteall.org/blend/. You will also need to pack your textures in your blend by pressing the highlighted button to the left of your texture path

Your uv unwrap of the table is causing the distortion.
I’ve attached a render from the bad unwrap and an improved unwrap.
For the unwrap I selected the table top, U / unwrap and then in the toolshelf (T key) I changed the unwrap method from Angle Based to Conformal. This gives a better unwrap for non organic objects. This will affect your texture map so you may have to fiddle with it to map the textures. You may also want to get rid of the seams on the table top so the top is one whole surface so the texture mapping is correct
