Hello, i am looking for someone who can make a good looking texture for my model character.
The model needs to look rusty and old (think of the rusty robot from Robots) the character is based off a moater cycle (in a way) and therefore needs to look like he is made out of old moater cycle parts.

I would texture it myslef but i do not have the skill required to make it look like i want it so any help would be awesome.
Thanks
While you are waiting for someone you might want to do a quick and dirty automatic UV map generation so you can open up Blender Paint and get that robot rusty looking.
Activate a cloud texture for any one of the model’s materials so you can use it in Texture Paint. Now adjust the color of the paint brush to something rusty looking and zoom in on all the creases and crevices and brush over all of these areas lightly, adding a few thin layers of ‘rust’(clouds texture) . Zoom in and out and change the color subtlety every few dozen strokes to add variation to both the color and size of the brush, which will change the size of the cloud texture, so will zooming in and out.
You also definitely want to do an ambient occlusion bake and save that out as well so you can adjust it in a 2D photo-editor and use it to modulate the primary texture map. You might want to change it to a brownish color before you multiply it against the main texture using the layer math in GIMP or Photoshop. You can also lower the occlusion layers’ transparency a bit in order to lower the influence it will have over the base texture. Then save it all out and reload it into Blender materials and continue to touch up the subtle detail.
You’re model looks nice and I’m sure you can figure all this out. Just keep going with it since you clearly have the talent. Maybe instead you could post this in the area where people are asking for critiques. This way people can point out to you a few instructions on how you can bring your textured ability up to speed. Once you see how much Blenders procedural textures can be configured and how easy it is to do so simply by cycling through the options available.
Maybe you can find an image of brushed metal to use as the base map. Maybe also a corroded copper texture as well.
