I’m just wondering if it’s possible to apply a texture to shadows? Reason being so I can apply a pencil scribble texture to achieve a hand-drawn effect… or if anyone’s got any other ideas how I could do this would be very useful.
Cheers

If you really want a hand drawn look, you might want to put your image through the compositor utilizing the filter and colorband nodes.
For the moment I don’t think there’s a straightfoward way of applying textures to shadows unless the upcoming render passes allow for that in the compositor.
Perhaps in the nodes theres a way of using the shadow output as a stencil on your texture.
You have to run the shadow pass through a color ramp and use that as an alpha on a duplicate mesh (the one on which the shadows fall). The duplicated mesh would need to have the texture applied to it that you want the shadows to recieve. It’s a little more involved than that but if you want I can work you up a screenie.
If you’re not used to the nodes then they’ll likely tick you off when you start playing with them but it’s worth it. Like CD mentioned, it’s not a straightforward process.
