Can anybody link me to a good texturing tutorial for the GIMP?I want to learn how to make human skin textures with dark parts and all.

one of those should get you going in the right direction, there is also a way to save out the map as a file type and then open in gimp and paint right on it then re-load it into blender, tutorial is out there, those links were the first 3 under google search- (Blender gimp and seamless textures)
