Texures won't Render (and possibly some other tex issues... I'm a noob...)

Okay, so I’m trying to teach myself to use Blender and I got the modeling down, but I’m still a bit of a noob, so please go easy on me. xD

So here’s the Scenario:
I managed to use the UV image editor to put a picture of a landscape on a plane, since I’ll be putting it outside a window to make it look like the outdoors. The texture will show up in texture paint mode, but no other mode. (I hope that’s normal) When I try to render the image, the texture won’t show up, so all I see is grey.

Question(s):

  1. How can I render an image with the textures showing?
  2. How can I render it with more than one object with texture?
  3. Anything else you can tell a noob about texturing?

It sounds like you have just added your texture through the uv/image editor. This is not the way to add textures to your object. Add a material to your object and then add the texture to that material.

OOOooohh… that explains it, and makes a bit more sense. Thank you!
