The Age of A.I. (Youtube Originals)

Interesting documentary about the world that is coming,
The first 2 episodes are freely available.

In this first there are interesting examples of work between CGI and artificial intelligence.

'A.I ’ big lol … " it’s not me controlling you … it’s the A.I " , " it’s not me spying you … it’s the A.I "

this is another question, which must be taken into consideration, but theoretically you could have an AI offline, or create it yourself with tensorcores.

the relevant issue is that they manage to learn and improve themselves.

i hardly believe that a machine can “learn” by it self ( != swallowing dictionaries and making predictive models based on massive datas the machine was feeded with)

I don’t know how much you know about machine neural learning techniques, but this is exactly what they do.

but it’s just about sensors, numerical measurements, data-cleaning/transformations algorithms, statistical modeling with predictive models. Don’t be fooled with the word “neuronal network” it’s just a bunch of logistical regression interconnected with an 0/1 output with retro-validation.

And this is what we call artificial intelligence …
And this is what makes them powerful for precise and even complicated tasks.
I don’t know what makes you doubt

a super calculator may compute fast, but is certainly not “intelligent” . Intelligence comes with creativity. You face a real problem (not a math equation) , you need creativity to solve your problem. The AI can only think inside the box defined by the programmer. The programmer was the one who though outside the box to make his AI think ‘smart’

now I understand, you’ve focused on the term …
well, in fact it is called Artificial-Intelligent, not Intelligent …

words are only words, but they are important …

so i came to this point. Don’t forget that behind China’s AI social score, there’s a government… Not a skynet with it’s own will.

yes I understand, but the fact remains that once given the “initial instructions” these algorithms are able to self-improve beyond the instructor’s skills

no no and no. It’s “auto-parametrization” (changing the parameters of an implemented model) . In no cases, the so called AI will be able to create a new statistical/mathematical model. That’s the job of Nobel prices guys.

And as you said, it requires ‘initial instructions’ … put a kid on an island, he won’t wait 'initial instructions" to know that he better find a way to get out of there

on simple models you are absolutely right.
but on far more complex systems, this could lapse in some cases …
I am convinced that as a principle behind neural machine learning algorithms it is a method very similar to how our own neurons work.

Focus on semantics till the poles melt, the name’s stuck. It’s not gonna change.
The thing with AI though – intelligent or not, it will be taking jobs away from humans.

this is yet another fact,
it must be said, that with all this automation and artificial intelligence to come, there is still a need for humans to work?
I intend to work to survive.

agree, but it was already the case with machines

sorry, but it’s not for today that you will have robots delivering pizza’s by the window while you rote playing video games programmed by AI’s

Imagine, all the humans stop working tomorrow … AIs and robots to replace ?

and in fact these are the jobs that are left (for now)
because the big factories, those that created the great well-being of the 60-70-80’s, are no longer there, not because things are no longer being produced, but because machines have replaced humans for a while … not at all case what is coming is called the fourth industrial revolution …

There is that once and for all the powerfull in the world must decide to change the rules once and for all or make a fourth world war that resets everything (and as greedy and insane as they are, I doubt that they will voluntarily give up the power and wealth accumulated)
but that’s another story, and I don’t want to turn this thread into another political thread, so let’s talk about artificial intelligence

as machines replaced men during industrial revolution , AI’s will replace men in our current hyper-data revolution. The problem is, the men were no longer strong enough to face machines and obviously no more clever enough to deal with more and more complex jobs. Only a smaller and smaller part of men will be useful in our modern societies . And that will be a problem (or not)

we agree.
It is hoped that collective human intelligence will face reality and create a new balance, because we do not go back with technology, this is known.
There is a need for less selfishness and more diplomacy to create a new order, a new reality.
