That is possible in dyntopo with flood fill and masks. I’d love to have it on the remesher too.

That is the reason you see Pablo working with multiple meshes, so he will have the freedom of remeshing only the part he needs :wink:

That’s dyntopo’s strength. You can have localized detail based on the brush size and/or the zoom on the object.

The voxel remesher is not designed for that. I has a constant resolution… Maybe possible to restrict it with a mask but the transition would be bad…

mm, that’s not fast. zbrush or even 3dcoat would do that in 1 sec easily.

I’m saying this cause the brushes work really well with remesher, u could be sculpting 5/10 million with no lag and that’s just amazing, the problem comes when remeshing cause takes forever. it just cuts the flow completely

Wow, so many features!
I think it would be good to show some shortcuts description on the screen when the tool is used (like in fluent addon for example) - or use the standard blender information bar on the bottom to show all these new fancy features. This would make life easier :slight_smile:

Recursive face sets looks dope af.

That looks great in the video but it is another story when you try to use the branch.

There is no shortcut. You have to add it through search.
I don’t know why but Cancel keys and Snap expand to Face Sets key are not working.
By default expand is snapped to Face Sets which is counterintuitive because there is no expand.
The only way to disable snapping is to use a leymap that is moving the origin of the expand.
The square shape corresponds to a cubic falloff.
On a plane that makes the square shape is following diagonal of faces that is rotated to 45 degrees.
So, mask generated that way is never parallel to a straight side of model.
There is no modal keymap to define hardness of gradient.
This is deceiving that can not expand a drawn mask. origin of expansion is face set boundary or a point.

I am not sure to succeed to anticipate correct first iteration for expand with recursion.
I would prefer to have ability to use textures with Mask Expand and Mask gesture tools (box mask, lasso mask, line mask). Currently, we only have texture support for mask brush.

A working modal keymap is really needed for this tool.

I have a feeling that those recent features (the ones in the videos above) will make to the next version of Zbrush, probably earlier than Blender release has them.

And people elsewhere will exclaim how Pixologic did it again without ever mentioning Blender.

And people here will talk about how Pixologic again schooled the Blender devs. on how something should be done (because they are Pixologic, FOSS and innovation is not supposed to be in the same sentence apparently).

That would be day if Pablo one day starts(i do not know if he can or knows of course) to write native material painting system, we would probably get fastest painter ever created and easiest. My suggestion would be mix between Substance and Mixer.
