I downloaded the Alpha yesterday to start moving over to the master branch from the sculpt branch. Guess I will have to redownload Blender again. XD
It still pretty buggy
I just tried it. It takes quite a while for it to calculate a new mesh, even when the mesh is below the 1 million polygons mark. Also, it really needs a symmetry option. Dyntopo can be used to get back symmetry again, but the problem with that is that it automatically triangulates all your quads, which to me is not desirable for a quad remesher.
Wow! It’s fast for me (works great but still testing). It’s slow if you use a 1:1 ratio (1.000.000 faces sculpt >> 1.000.000 remesh). That’s too much…
How to cancel quadriflow in the middle of the operation? It’s taking ages, before crash.
For meshes with hard surface features, it is a heck of a lot better than Voxel remeshing. However, you can voxel remesh at a high resolution to put a lot of separate parts together and then quad remesh to get something more usable (to where it can be subsurfed).
There’s several rough edges yet, but this being in master means there can now be a focus on just improving the results and resolving bugs.
The voxel remesher can also be used to fix errors in the mesh.
You can use Symmetrize in Edit Mode too. Mesh->Symmetrize. It’ll still wind up with a few tris along the center line, but won’t triangulate everything like Dyntopo. There is also the Auto Mirror addon that ships with Blender, which will cut it in half and put a mirror modifier on.
Either way, it’d be nicer if Quadriflow could be made to support symmetry at some point.
Edit: Here is a test using Auto Mirror to cut in half, and then Quadriflow with Preserve Mesh Boundaries enabled. Seems passable (at least for actually symmetrical meshes).
You can cut the object into half and use preserve boundary option in quadriflow menu. After remesh use mirror modifier. It gives good quad and flow to work with multi res. Modifier.
What are some good settings to get decent results like that? All my tests look horrible.
Slow and looks like it doesn’t use full CPU Power.
Tried it and I couldn’t get the clean edges thing to work on a Dyntopo sculpt I made. The results were quite hideous. ^^
Maybe I missed something? If you could demonstrate how you did it, it would be much appreciated.

Frankly, QuadriFlow kinda sucks for auto-retopology when compared to ZRemesher. But it comes with Blender for free, so it’s definitely nice to have it as an option.
But ZRemesher is on its way to Blender in the shape of QuadRemesher, coming soon. Combined with the plethora of new sculpting tools, Blender is unmistakably starting to show some muscle towards ZBrush.
And no, I’m really not an undercover marketing guy for QuadRemesher, trust me, just a long-time fan of ZRemesher. ![]()

Quadriflow is also free and open technology as indicated by the paper it is based off of, the type Blender is limited to because of the GPL.
Zremesher is probably locked down and has patents attached. Let’s also not forget that Quadriflow will have time to improve for the 2.81 release.
Yes, I hope so. Anyway, I’m not complaining. There’s more being added to Blender than I can keep up with. Every day I’m excited to check out new features in the daily master builds.
My two wishes for our new Blender remesher would be to draw loops and edges on your model that QuadriFlow follows when remeshing and of course symmetry to avoid cases where quads overlap the other side of the model. Those two features would make it a lot more user friendly and practical.
Also, please make it faster. Been trying it the last few hours and noticed that it can get very slow with its calculations and sometimes even freeze mid-remesh.
