I finally tried it a little bit, and I found the issue I was talking about… Apparently when the “ignore background click” option is enabled there, it also affects every other brush, so you are no longer able to start a stroke from an empty space… and that’s bad…

I will try to report this bug… 👇

I checked it and I also got this bug after using a masking brush.
I didn’t notice the bug before because I was used to starting the brush movement from the object. 😅

The bug was fixed, by the way… 🙂

It’s cool.
I downloaded the latest build, ran the test, and the error disappeared. But there was a strange thing.

The brush now switches to the mask, despite the “Ignore Background Click” checkbox.
Should I report the bug, or has it already been reported? 🤔

Weird… That didn’t happen when I tried… Will have to check again…
The same thing happens with factory settings/default keymap?

And no, I don’t think it was reported… So yeah, if it can be reproduced with the factory settings you should report…

Used the vdm Baker extension thingy to make some brushes but now i realise i have no idea how to add custom brushes to my shelf??? Do I append them or add as assets or whats the way?

For having used blender for this long it feels embarrassing to not get it 😂 but oh well

It’s simple. You need to create a file for brush assets and specify the path to the brushes in the settings.
 ![image](https://blenderartists.org/uploads/default/original/4X/c/7/1/c71347b1ecbb0e6f57f352bbd3956d3f0ca8edf7.png) ![image](https://blenderartists.org/uploads/default/original/4X/8/7/6/87697ea8b42c96ddb0ea3606beec5564a8083d69.png)

Then save the brushes there.
 ![image](https://blenderartists.org/uploads/default/original/4X/a/9/d/a9d1be32dd2d19959b4052c6d5492644e37a1785.png)

You can save it in the default assets library, but then you will have to constantly copy this folder to the new version of Blender.

</div>

It works! But how does it actually work, it just sees that there are “custom” assets in that file? Let’s say I make 10 scenes that all contain different brushes and whatnot, would they all just pop up in the brush menu as long as they are in the correct library?

Yes. As long as brushes are marked as assets, and file is stored in asset library indicated in Preferences window, brushes can be seen by asset browser and asset shelf.

It is source list, in popover on the left of asset shelf, or in Shift Space pop-up, that allows to choose what libraries and catalogs are displayed.

</div>

Right, that does make sense once you get over the idea of the brushes being their own files (as in zbrush for example).
Is there a “proper” way to add the files so that they get sorted into catalogues based on folders hierarchy or something similar? Now I had to create the catalogues and add the assets manually in blender.

Catalogs are defined by texts files. If you want to automate assignments of assets to catalogs, you have to automate writing/edition of those files, through scripts.

In the file where the brush assets are stored, you can create and edit brush directories in the asset browser.
You need to open the brush asset file, open the resource browser, and select the directory where the file is stored. Then you can edit resource directories. 😀

Hey folks, I managed to create a ‘Gizmo Mover’ addon without switching back & forth to Object Mode:

> Hey guys, I made with AI a handy tool to move the Gizmo around: Installation: -Download the file: [gizmo\_pivot\_tool.zip](https://blenderartists.org/uploads/short-url/3JxE3IHcqmlEkYe3KVupkLFrw7a.zip) (40.2 KB) -Inside Blender navigate to Edit \>\> Preferences \>\> Add-ons \>\> Install from Disk (Top right corner) -Open “gizmo\_pivot\_tool.zip” -Make sure you tick to box for “Gizmo Pivot Tool" in the Add-ons menu. -3 new icons are now attached to your gizmo. Tested on Blender 4.5 & 5.1. Take care +1

As of now I only tested it on 4.5, 5.1

Let me know what you think.

Edit: Argh! I meant to reply to the thread, not you Nime, apologies 🙏

Edit 2: Also I’m trying to make ZBrush ‘Clip Curve’ in Blender:

Hi! I developed a free add-on for inserting meshes in sculpt mode. I hope you find it useful! 😃

> Hi, this is my first post! I’ve developed a free add-on for inserting meshes in sculpt mode that I wanted to share. It’s slightly unusual in that the tool has its own transform gizmo, plus another set of gizmos depending on the mesh type. [Insert Mesh.zip](https://blenderartists.org/uploads/short-url/boeYLhGd9KZNUPxeDjWSxDOcGdo.zip) (31.9 KB) Shortcuts: W: cycle between mesh types (currently Box, Cylinder, Sphere primitives, and any custom mesh); E: switch between gizmo types; T on an object: pick the object as the custom mesh to insert; Shift while dragging the…

I’m also developing a similar one for tube-like shapes. I’d love to hear any suggestions you might have!

I originally saw how you created a Custom Gizmo for Sculpt Mode, and used that to platform my Gizmo Addon.
Fantastic Addon you’ve made! ty
