The big Blender Sculpt Mode thread (Part 2)

omg… had no idea you could set persistent base! I guess it falls apart if you want to apply a full model noise and paint it away at certain points? Kind of locked to that specific brush as well

hmm …
you mean something like this?

or this?

Huh… Just tried it and feels like only thing im missing is a way to toggle between the states. but that does work kind of like morph targets! crazy that i have missed it so far

and it works with multires??? tried it now and was very ready to learn that it only worked without subdivs but i was proven wrong!

Here’s a way to do it with multires and the multires eraser brush:

I think that one just ereases all additional displacement info, meaning you can’t sculpt on subdiv 4 and then erease something on subdiv 5 without also removing everything down to subdiv 0  Unless im missing some settings somewhere

Is there a reason why we dont have per object history for sculpt mode in blender?
I have not really reflected over the lack of it and i have been using it in production for over a year now. I never used project files in zbrush either though so might just be me

This addon caught my eye a while ago:

“Give every object its own independent timeline, with the bar following the active object — or keep one shared timeline for the entire file.”

yeah i feel like something like that would be cool to be able to toggle for some objects. As i said I have not really worked with individual history in mind for a while and just keep copies and iterative saves around until im sure stuff is done etc

Didn’t have the time to try it yet… l Just discovered it yesterday…
But yeah, super neat indeed…

Ah, you beat me to it. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just watched the demo videos of Klay. Wow, I haven’t been this enthusiastic about a sculpting tool since the heydays of ZBrush.

The dev informed me that the project is not vibe-coded, and it combines mesh and SDF sculpting, like Adobe Modeler. :+1:

… Always fun to see YouTube’s live translation turning “Boolean” into “bullying”.

“What? You’re not using SDF?! I’m going to bully you!”
