this is a space fighter, carrier for an alien race. (I plan to, in a few years have a short movie made using this and other models)
I rting for the “massive” look, but I cant seem to get it. suggestions
what think ye thus far?
also any ideas on dietailing and texturing would be good
The shape and model are both very original and good, to get that effect, you could try playing with the camera’s lens, that always helps! I like it though, it’s very well created though. Looking forward to updates!
Also I thought you might like some textures, PM me if you want HQ more.
The model looks fantastic, I’d add some subspace type antenner pointing from the front.
Cant wait to see how this turns out, you’ve got a good base start there.

Looking pretty good so far, but I would personally do engines more like star wars, something like the engines on the mon calamari cruiser or the corellian corvette. Good work so far…
I see this, but thus far I have been unable to keep them from looking like they came right out of Star Trek and keep the same theme.
my reason for adding the engines on the side is thus, without them, it dosent look for feel quite right.
so after spending several hours trying to get them to look right, I gave up on that design, tell me what you think of the new one.I will be adding the actual engines soon.
Really like the way the engine hood connects with the hull of the carrior. Very cool looking! There does seem to be a lot of space behind the engine bells though, perhaps some greebling behind there?
yes there is alot of space back there. and perhaps I’ll try it, but greebel never made much sense to me.
I figure, if I’m in a combat ship, I want everything inside the armour. but we’ll see
when I say greeble, that implies panneling, pipes, vents, anything, does not have to be important stuff, could even just be a texture you apply. But I agree completely, if it’s important, it would definitely be under some armor.

Yep your right about the armour, I cant get my brain around the idea of having all the life support systems etc nailed to the hull exteriors, why do they do that?
Anyways, the challenge isn’t modelling Nurnies or Greebles, its making your scfi crafts look realistic and aesthetically pleasing. So keep to your vision dog your concept is practical try to keep away from the bumpy clunker idea. http://www.geocities.com/jedi_vega/royal_starfighter.html
BTW why did you change my ships wings? I liked the idea of a passenger / freighter craft that could fly through planet atmospheres and land. So how do I land this thing now without wings or vertical thrusters Hu?
