this game is going to be a GTA/monster hunter game, currently we need the first map, whether its a sketch, or a model. we are looking at a medium sized city, a few skyscrapers, subway/sewer systems would be great
are you still able to help with matter?
im not exactly sure what you mean, if you mean that you would like to help with the project, then yes, anyone can help.
A NOTE TO EVERYONE ELSE: try to keep models as low poly as possible. and NO glsl:no:
Alright. First off. Are we going to have different areas of the city? Cause, I’m going to start a basic layout for a ‘grungy part’ of town. Probably some alley ways, cracked cement, basically a nice area for some monsters to come out of the dark.
Also, I’m going to start the area fairly small, that way it runs faster.
Here an idea: if you wanted to go to a different part of the city, You have to fight your way to the subway station. Once there you pick which part of the city you want to go to. That way it runs smoother, but we still get the idea that we are in a large city.
Let me know what you think.

i really like the idea of fighting to the subway, and yes we are going to different parts of the city, im currently working on the inner city. if someone would like to start on the subway station that would be great! i have one car, and im about to work on getting it so that the player can get in and out of the car. i have a question, would it be good if the cars were sort of hidden, like maybe a few would be in a parking lot, and others would be in like peoples garages?

Ya definitely have the the cars hidden near tons of monsters, that way you have to earn the car.
Right now, I am working on a very basic ‘slum’ type area of the city. It will have a patch to the subway. I will post it fairly shortly, that way we can compare our style and find something that works. Oh, do you want me to model some low poly weapons? I was thinking you start off with a bat, or club and you have to find other weapons.
How many poly’s should one section of the city be?
Alright, i will post my work shortly.

I can donate a wicked awesome sniper in return for my name as a donator in the credits of the game as well as my game being advertised on billboards in a few areas in the game… or is that too much? lol
-Ben
actually, if anyone that helps(or donates) with the game has an organization(or company) then i would like to advertise them with there logo on a few billboards, as well as being in the credits/intro. Such as mine(GravityGames) would have a few billboards, and a logo on the intro. however if its an individual, then i could put you name(with your permission) in the credits, or where ever you like(as long as its legit). so PM me either the blend file or a link to download it, and i will check it out.
for the team, i have spent a few hours coming up with this map(“inner city”), i dont have buildings in it yet but thats coming soon. So this is the basic road layout(excluding the road that the player will use to switch areas) tell me what you guys think

Ok, so here’s an update. Please not that this is very rough and basic. I am planning on making other buildings also, but for the time being i duplicated them. The poly count for the whole scene is 5118. Is that to much?
Ok, here’s some screnes (not game play screens)
The bottom screen is explaining where and what things are.(sorry for the spelling mistake)
Kendrick - I don’t know what the style of this game is, so please let me know if I have to change it. I could do a better modeling job, i just wanted to keep it low poly.

Sorry for the double post, but you must have posted right before me.
OK that is a good layout. It tells me that you are thinking larger scale than I am.
Should i go with less detail on my buildings then, and make it more large scale?
i love the buildings, maybe make just make a larger map with more buildings, as low poly as you can, its looking perfect.2 or 3 times larger would be good for the slums:cool:
OK, will do.
ok, we now could use some building textures, such as skyscraper textures, and smaller city building textures
Ok, I made a layout of the slums, and then i duplicated the buildings (i am planning on making other buildings). But when i duplicated them, i accidentally forgot to copy the doors also, so all the buildings are door less. Don’t worry, i will fix it, just not now. I also added fences where you aren’t supposed to go.
Tell me what you think.

the green represent run down parks I am going to make.
Did you noticed I graffitied my production logo on the walls?
I will also put on gravity games.

That looks really nice!!! keep up the GREAT work!
Hey… I have two things you might like for this…
A nice, lowpoly rifle and a nice radioactive/ hazard barrel.
The textures on the barrels are 256x256, but the rifle is 1024x1024. So you might want to make the rifle textures lower res…
Here are pics of both:
Just PM me if you want them!!
I can also help in making small props if you would like! xD

wow young apprentice! Those look great!!
Ya, those look great, I’m sure we could use them. OK sometime today I’m going to model and texture another building, then add it into the scene. I am also going to fix the doors on the other buildings.
If i get to it, I will start with the ground. What is the easiest way to create roads? DO we want curbs or not?
