The coke bottle tutorial..

I’m having troubles…
http://www.infizz.com/coketut.php

When I get to this step (The middle of the page):
“Now we’re ready to start lathing the shape. Press tab to put your model into vertex-edit mode.
Now, if you ever looked really closely at a Coke bottle you would notice that it seems to have 10 slight grooves running vertically up the bottle. These need to be extruded before you spin the bottle. We need to model those now.
Now view your model from the front (“View > Front”). Right-click on the top-left vertex of your model to select it. Any selected vertices should be highlighted yellow. If you ever want to select all/deselect all vertices press A on your keyboard.”

How do I make those “grooves”? Either I’m simply not understanding what it’s saying…or it doesn’t say how to do it? Probably the first one…(I’m slow at learning). So if someone can help…thanks! I know it says to extrude them…but when I press E and click extrude…nothing happens. And besides I don’t know if they mean that.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks… ~Leah

Just continue following the tutorial. You will model the grooves at a figure labeled “Scale the vertices inward” (there are a few steps beforehand that ensure there are no grooves where the label would wrap around the bottle).

thank you…

I keep following the tutorial but i’m only getting the crease for the label. But I will keep on trying and then post more questions if I can’t figure it out within a decent time. :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks again.

do you mean the label is distorted on the bottlle…btw…
i selected those grooves and extruded …that part was unclear
