A Cylon base ship from the late, great Battlestar Galactica. I know it’s been off the air for a decade, but it struck a chord with me that remains to this day. Might still do a few tweaks on the materials, but it is essentially done. All the lights were done using a brick texture (yes, a brick texture) as a mask to tell a diffuse/emission shader where to put the lights. The brick texture was also used to drive the colour of the lights (through a colour ramp). Thanks for viewing.
I love that series, it is one of the best I have seen!
The trick with the bricks is superb! nice work!
Jea, one of the best sci-fi series so far. I like the camera movement in space a lot. A little bit shaky, then a fast zoom.
Maybe you can add some hunter ships at the bottom of the image, cause it feels a bit empty down there, nevertheless a nice spaceship.
Mind sharing the brick/windows nodes?
My name’s P3nT and I too am a BSG fan! Best scifi series ever, bar none and a sweet render to boot. Bricks thing is so perfect it’s amazing no one thought of it sooner. The best ideas always seem that way.
Nothing special here. I did find it best to at least unwrap the parts that held the windows as it allowed for easier resizing and getting the ‘windows’ to conform better to the shape of the hull.
Thanks, man.
