The desire for freedom

Inspired by the great work done by “gregmks” this dude is making a lot of great and inspiring works you should all see his page on deviant art and this image truly caught my eye and i knew that i have to make it.
I tried to imitate his work while trying to add some elements of my own creation but right now it’s just copy of his great work.my future plan for this project is for it to have detailed exterior and complicated layout with different types of cells before i start working on a nature scene.
the lighting is just a point lamp with the strength of 30 to help show up what’s inside the scene
any help or feedback will be very appreciated

First of all I think that the image looks bare. Seems like you’ve added textures without editing it and all materials are with diffuse texture only (or with diffuse and specular, like on metal parts of barrels). If you’ll add normal (bump) and reflection maps to every surface, that would look far better.

Hi,
thank you for replying it meant a lot to me, and I totally agree with you concerning the materials i didn’t get to advanced with them it was only diffuse just to help show up how the material going to end in the future and i thought that it will better than not having any material at all like the object in the background.this going to be a huge prison scene so maybe i need to work on enhancing the materials as you said before going any further with this project so thank you dear friend for the reply it is really priceless

Yes, More Bump and normal maps. More grunge. Lighting needs lots of work. Still lots of fine details need to be added and more. But your on the right path. keep it up!

I really like this image… Yes, the textures look ‘computer-made’ and not ‘realistic’, but it reminds me of Warcraft games, and it makes me feel solitude.

Great work

Totally agree with you the material still need a lot of work.concerning the light i am going to break the roof and let THE GOD RAYS enter from there also i am planing on adding fire and breaking some walls.what do you think about these suggestions and thank you dear friend for the priceless reply

Thank you sir for the amazing feedback. yes this project still needs a lot of work and it’s far from over but with the help that i am getting from this great community I hope that this humble project will end up to be a decent one and won’t disappoint all of those who shared their great and priceless opinions

Your image has a decent atmosphere and some good details. But there’s a few architectural elements that I think could be improved.

I’d like to suggest doing a little more work on the join between the wooden beams and the side walls. Right now it just looks like they are being held in place by friction, and it’s unclear what purpose they serve. (In particular, the most distant one in particular looks like the parts are hanging in mid air.)

The stairs are a little simplistic. They would look better if you give the steps some nosing.

If the barred openings are meant to be grated doors, I’d put some air space between the top of the bars and the arches. Otherwise they are going to catch on the arches when you try to swing them open. For example, you could flatten the tops and tip them with metal spikes instead.

‘rjshae’ your suggestions are more than welcome and you made see the architecture flaws that i am currently overlooking so thank you for sharing your opinions on this humble project and i will definitely follow your ideas.

that is exactly what i originally had in mind so thank you for setting me on the right side

Those beams across the ceiling area… They throw me off because they look unnatural the way they’re designed. They look more like old fashioned wooden coat hangers turned sideways. It’s the extensions at the ends. They aren’t there for any good reason. Either get rid of the extensions, or add some artistry to their design so they don’t look out of place.

Other than that… Really good!

thank you sir for the reply.
i will try and find solution to this problem and after looking at some reference photos I got a new idea that i will try to implement as soon as possible .so thank you once again for the great feedback
