One thing CG animators tend to do, which I highly recommend, is set up their scene first with low poly proxy objects, and animate. that way you can see how things flow, before commiting too much time into a scene. If something looks wrong, it’s easily corrected, and when you start animating higher poly textured ray traced objects, you won’t have to worry if it will turn out after 20 hours of rendering a scene, or whatever it takes.
Here’s a WIP render for the third shot in the film. It’s a resturant, so there are going to be a few more tables/chairs, and eventually some people :).
Basic story is something along the line of a pre-apocalypic world. I was orignally just going to have a series of shots, something like the third and the seventh, but i think i’m going more along the lines of a person explaining what life is really like in “the future”, cut in and out with shots of citys, wars, animals etc. All terrible terrible things. (Do you want more info?)
On the topic of the book, is a good read? I’ll have a few full-animated characters, lots of closeup shots of the main character talking, lots of camera movements(zooming in/out, panning etc.) Will I benefit from it?
That books about developing a screenplay and deepening plot and visual subtext. If your after camera work then one of the few that I like is “Film Directing Shot by Shot”.
Cities, war, animals, bars, etc, sounds like a lot of work…
P.S. In the book I liked the bit about semiotics, oh and the bit about Bugs Bunny hypnotizing Elmer Fudd! But that’s a bit of a passion of mine.
Looking good. Would you allow me to write a score for this project when you have it finished? I’ll only do score composition (because I don’t want to have TOO MANY projects to do.).

Enjoy.
score composition is me writing the music for this (and orchestrating and directing and making the music as an audio file). yes. please do send me a PM when it’s finished.
Lookin’ good, but when I think future I think lots of glass and big windows the size of the whole wall, and the chair seems not so futuristic…are you going for like a crossover style with modern/high tech and vintage?
For this particular scene, it is going to be an old, abandoned, dusty room with lots of rubbish, paper etc, looking out into the futuristic city. (the camera will move from the current position through the window out into the city). It is the office of the main character, who despises the future, wants to stay with the old ways. sort of a old genius guy who realises that life is getting a bit out of hand.
Anyway, when finished, it will be full of dust and paper and look very old and abandoned.
