the GIMP closes when i create a new document help please

I re downloaded the GIMP after not having it a while, but now when I create a new document, it crashes. do I need the new runtime environment or w/e its called?

I have the exact same problem (I’m on windows as well). I would appreciate any help.

I don’t use Gimp on WIndows, but I know that there are problems between modern versions of Gimp and slighly older versions of GTK. I would check into upgrading your GTK.
