Well, this is me again. I got stuck on my Porsche, but since I was on a roll, I didn’t want to stop. So I decided to start modeling the first environment.(For those of you who didn’t see my previous post, I’m working hard on my very first short animation called “The Heist”)
Again, there isn’t much to comment on yet, but please, try your best. I suppose it’s already obvious that i want this to be the best damn short ever
Hey, thanks. I’m so damn pleased with myself that I’ll just post another minor update. I’m gonna add a garage door and start texturing it, adding tiny details as I go.
My first render with Blender 2.3 :D: http://www.hot.ee/tere343/6_wip.jpg
Claws - no shadow-only lamps, just two spotlamps. I’m actually surprised myself, my lighting is usually really crappy
Now, this tiny update wouldn’t be worth the post, but I have a question.
There are two lights in the drive-in area. The one on the right is a signal light, which will flash, when the door opens (yes, the door will open :D) and the one on the left is a regular halogen light that is activated by movement. I currently placed a temporary spotlight there so that you could see what’s going on. Both questions apply to the halogen light:
a) would this be a fine place to chack out the new radiosity feature for the halogen tube?
b) would it then shed actual light on it’s surroundings and also create shadows?
b1) if both above questions are answered “yes”, then would someone please point to a new radiosity tutorial, because I have no idea how to use the new features :-?
As you can see, I’ve started adding textures and let me tell you, that is not an easy job for me. I fear texturing like hell. Oh well…
Now, I triend to alter the lighting, make it a bit moody. I would like to give the viewer the feeling that he would not like to be alone in that alley, but I have no idea how to do that. I thought of adding steam or fumes rising from the sewers. I’ll have to learn about particles then :). The asphalt will get a specularity layer, some water near the sewer entrance, etc. etc.
Oh and Hippie, there won’t be any round corner stones. I want the street to look a bit more sloppy or smth :).
Any tips on improving the lighting, mood or anything else are greatly appreciated :D.
i’d make the shadows a lot sharper, and maybe have a rough outline of a person’s shadow just on a wall or something, or a cigarette end glowing in the darkness or something…
definatley sharper shadows, and put some things to cast the shadows behind the camera as well, so the scene looks wore detailed, rather than just the one sided bit that it is…
Oh well, schools busy and I’ve had some no-gos, but I just wanted to let you know I’m still working on it.

Some codec problems and I just realised how low-res my textures were, but I like it. This weekend = major reworks, will finish textures and expand the scene (to the right).
Any tips, anything at all, are greatly appreciated (bear in mind that this is for a really huge animation project of mine)
Oh, and special thanks go out to @ndy for providing the link to www.animax.it , which has some really cool textures.
