The Hokum copter test

Out of the curiosity, I made a simple Hokum helicopter test.

The real deal

Controls:
Mouse up/down = pitch
Mouse left / right = roll / strafe
Mouse wheel up/down = collective / lift
Mouse LB = yaw left
Mouse RB = yaw right

I plan to do a four axis joystick version from this :smiley:

My questions
How to make that slow parenting for the camera?
How to limit the camera min / max pitch angle despite the parent object world angle ?

Could you word your second question differently?

For the slow parenting you can look at this link: Slow Parenting Tutorial

About the second question. Basically yuou want to limit local orientation, right? It is an open problem in BGE, the solution depends on what you want in a more specific way. I guess you need to write your own track 2 or parent script.

I develop the physic & steering a bit and now it works much better.
I set the terrain more steeper for the fun flying around.

I fix few issues and add a tad better ‘instrumentation’ to debug properties.

I don’t request you to create a combat helicopter game/sim or even basic helicopter FDM for me, I just ask you to test fly my shared .blend file.

Did you write the script, if so you are amazing!
I don’t know if you’ve fixed this but I haven’t managed to land anywhere but the landing pad, as the heli spins.
If you want to make a better view use the camera actuator or slow parent.
Very very nice, well done.

The landing pad is only real flat place on map :slight_smile:
