The IK in rigify

Um, I have a little hard time with rigify, more specifically with the arm IK. How do rigify restrict the axis there the arm bends? I ask because for some reason my rig let the arm bend foreward and backwards, which doesn’t make any sense…

Help pls?

The original rigify rig restricts the bending axis to local x. The pitchypoy version has no axis restrictions. The first uses a pole target, the second uses a bone to control the elbow direction.

Before generating the rig, you should have a slight bend between the upper arm and fore arm. This should help with odd bending as long as your pole target is positioned correctly.

Good luck!

Which bone controls the direction for the pitchopy version?

The arrows for legs and upper arm. Rotate them in local y.
