I have a blend file for a project that I am working on currently, and I’m trying to import an image as a plane, the image is imported as it appears in the outliner, but it doesn’t appear in the view port (layout workspace), after checking the shading workspace it was there, I tried a new empty project and the image appeared everywhere, don’t really know what is wrong with my current blend file
Nope, the collection is visible and not hidden and I even tried to import it again outside of the collections, but still it doesn’t appear in the viewport - layout workspace !
Do you mean you can’t see the picture itself ??
The Shading Workspace uses Viewport Shading → Material Preview by default showing the image on the object and the Layout Workspace just Solid and showing a grey object…
You will see it in material view and not solid view. Also if you import image as background or ref image, (in add menu with images as planes) you have to view it face on to see the image. Also try making sure your overlays are switched on.
The Shading workspace shows the frame inside an orange frame without issues, but the Layout Workspace is not showing anything, neither the image frame nor the image itself, even with the ‘Viewport Shading - Material View’ option from the top right menu
I believe it is the standard dark theme, I also tried to press the ‘0’ key which focuses on the active object, but on choosing the image from the outliner and then press ‘0’ nothing happens, as if the object is not there, although it is listed in the outliner
I believe my last chance is to try import my objects from this blend file into a new fresh one and see if this resolves the issue
Can you provide a blend file with just that image object exept camera and ligth (image doesn’t need to be include could use any other)? (Re-import could work but is no final solution…)
I am a bit afraid that it will turn out to be a stupid thing from my side
Give me a minute, will remove all the objects from the file and import blender logo as an image and will share with you
Nah some times some things are just some things … (better to upload image directly here )
… hmm first of: if i load this with with Load UI disabled then everthing is fine…
I tried reopening the file with Load UI disabled and it worked now !
What does this Load UI option do? I believe its default is enabled as I didn’t change this before
Maybe you accidently toggled local view. / on the Numberpad… i’m not sure because after this it is visible and toggling back it is also visible… thats a bug it seems (IDK if this is known.)
And one other thing I just tried now, I created a complete new blend file, imported the image and everything is ok, then closed the file and reopened with Load UI enabled and it is working as well, so the old blend file is possessed or something
Yes, I believe it is a bug that happened in this blend file due to some key combinations that I used, but I don’t even know what to report since I am not able to re-produce the same scenario or the same key combinations or sequence that created it in the first place, perhaps I can open a ticket and just attach the blend file for the developers to check !
